峨眉山月半轮秋
影入平羌江水流
夜发清溪向三峡
思君不见下渝州
The crescent moon on Mount Brow shines in autumn sky,
Its image in the River Flat flows quietly by.
At night I leave Clear Stream for the Three Gorges far.
Thinking of you unseen, I sail down to Yuzhou.

'Clear Stream' is a post station. 'Three Gorges' are Qutang, Wu, and Xiling. This line describes the poet setting off at night from Clear Stream toward the Three Gorges, conveying the loneliness and haste of the journey.
思君不见下渝州
“君”指友人（一说指月亮）。诗人思念友人却不得相见，只能继续顺流而下至渝州（今重庆）。直抒胸臆，情感真挚，余韵悠长。
'You' refers to a friend (some interpret as the moon). The poet longs for his friend but cannot see him, so he continues downstream to Yuzhou (modern Chongqing). This direct expression of genuine emotion leaves a lingering resonance.
