闺怨
闺中少妇不知愁
春日凝妆上翠楼
忽见陌头杨柳色
悔教夫婿觅封侯
The young wife in her bower knew not what sorrow was;
On spring day, in fine dress, she climbed the painted tower.
Suddenly she saw the roadside willows green as grass,
She grieved she bade her husband seek fame's distant power.

春日凝妆上翠楼

'凝妆' means she dressed carefully and elegantly; '翠楼' is a richly ornamented tower. She ascends the tower in high spirits to enjoy the spring scene, still unaware of loneliness.
忽见陌头杨柳色
陌头是路边，杨柳不仅是春景，也是送别象征（折柳送别）。忽见点出触景生情，是情感转折的关键。她看到杨柳，联想到离别。
'陌头' is the roadside; willows at the road are not only spring scenery but also a symbol of farewell (in Tang, people broke willow twigs to say goodbye). 'Suddenly sees' marks the turning point—she is struck by the sight and thinks of parting.
悔教夫婿觅封侯
悔直抒胸臆，教是让、使，觅封侯指到边疆从军以获取功名。她后悔当初鼓励丈夫离家去追求功名，现在只能独自面对春色。
'悔' gives direct expression to regret; '教' means 'let/urge'; '觅封侯' means to go to the frontier to win a noble title through military exploits. She regrets urging her husband to leave home for glory, leaving her alone with the spring scene.
