玉阶怨
玉阶生白露，
夜久侵罗袜。
却下水晶帘，
玲珑望秋月。
On jade steps the white dew shines,
Through the long night it soaks her silken hose.
She lets down the crystal blinds,
And through their luster watches the autumn moon aglow.

Though the word grievance never appears, images of white dew, silken hose, crystal curtain, and autumn moon subtly convey her loneliness and longing.
