曾经沧海难为水
除却巫山不是云
取次花丛懒回顾
半缘修道半缘君
Once you have seen the ocean, no other waters please;
Except the clouds of Wu, no other clouds appease.
Strolling among blossoms, I never cast a backward glance;
Half for my pursuit of truth, half for your love's trance.
逐句注释
曾经沧海难为水
化用《孟子·尽心上》'观于海者难为水'。经历过浩瀚的大海，其他的水便不再值得一看。这里以沧海比喻诗人与亡妻的深厚感情，暗示世间不会有第二个人能与之相比。
This line alludes to Mencius: 'For one who has seen the ocean, it is hard to appreciate ordinary waters.' It suggests that after experiencing the boundless depth of his love for his late wife, no other woman can ever compare.
除却巫山不是云
引用宋玉《高唐赋》中巫山神女的典故。巫山之云是神女所化，被视为世上最美的云。诗人借此表明，唯有亡妻才是他心中最爱，其他一切都黯然失色。
This refers to the legend in Song Yu's 'Gaotang Fu', where the goddess of Mount Wu manifests as clouds. The poet implies that only his wife was ever the true embodiment of beauty and love, so no other 'cloud' can equal her.
取次花丛懒回顾
花丛比喻美女众多。即使身处万花丛中，他也懒于回头一顾，表现其对亡妻的专注与深情，不为世间任何美色所动。
The 'flowers' metaphorically stand for beautiful women. Even when surrounded by them, the poet is too indifferent to look back, demonstrating his unwavering loyalty to his deceased wife.
半缘修道半缘君
表面说一半是为了修身养道，一半是为了你，实际上'修道'只是一种委婉的掩饰。他之所以心如止水，根本原因仍是对亡妻的无限怀念，这种含蓄的写法使情感更加沉痛动人。
He seemingly attributes his emotional detachment half to Daoist cultivation and half to longing for her. Yet the 'cultivation' is only a guise; the true cause is his total devotion to her memory, which makes the grief more poignant and profound.

这是元稹悼念亡妻韦丛的组诗《离思五首》中的第四首，也是最著名的一首。韦丛是太子少保韦夏卿之女，下嫁元稹时他尚贫寒，但她安贫守志，毫无怨言。元稹功成名就后，追忆往昔，深悲亡妻不能共享富贵，于是写下这首哀婉缠绵的悼亡诗，表达了自己对爱情的忠诚与无尽的思念。
This is the fourth and most famous of Yuan Zhen's five mourning poems, 'Thoughts on Separation', written for his deceased wife Wei Cong. Wei was the daughter of a high official, Wei Xiaqing, yet she married Yuan when he was still poor and endured poverty without complaint. After Yuan later achieved fame and success, he grieved that she could not share his prosperity, and composed this deeply moving elegy to express his fidelity and boundless longing.
