秋夜寄邱员外
怀君属秋夜，
散步咏凉天。
空山松子落，
幽人应未眠。
I think of you, friend, on an autumn night,
And stroll, humming to the cool sky's light.
In empty hills a pinecone falls;
The hidden one, surely, wakes and calls.

怀君属秋夜，
怀君：思念您。君，对友人的敬称。属（zhǔ）：适逢，正赶上。秋夜点明时令，也渲染清冷怀远的氛围。开篇直抒胸臆，以“秋夜”引出相思。
“Huai jun” means longing for you; “jun” is a respectful address to a friend. “Zhu” (zhǔ) means “just at” or “happens to be.” The autumn night marks the season and creates a cool, distant mood; the poem opens with a direct statement of emotion.
散步咏凉天。
散步：缓步行走。咏：吟咏，低声吟诵。凉天：凉爽的秋空、秋日天气。以散步吟咏的动作写内心难眠的思念，“凉”字既写秋气，也透出孤寂。
“Sanbu” is strolling; “yong” is to chant or hum; “liang tian” is the cool autumn sky or weather. The action reveals restless longing; “cool” describes both the air and a subtle loneliness.
空山松子落，
空山：空寂的山林，并非真无人，而写幽静。松子落：松果坠落。以细微声响反衬山夜之静，是“以动衬静”；也点出秋令，并暗示时光流逝与幽居环境。
“Empty hills” evokes profound quiet rather than literal absence of people. A falling pinecone is a tiny sound that intensifies the stillness, using motion and sound to set off quiet; it also marks autumn and suggests passing time and a recluse’s setting.
幽人应未眠。
幽人：幽居之人，指丘员外，也带高洁隐逸意味。应：料想、大概。未眠：没有入睡。诗人由己及人，推想友人同样因思念而未眠，形成情感上的遥相呼应，含蓄而深长。
“The hidden person” refers to Qiu Yuanwai and carries connotations of purity and withdrawal. “Ying” means “presumably” or “probably.” The speaker imagines that his friend is also awake, creating reciprocal longing and deepening the emotional resonance.
